SilentPilot
I've weighed my e-Sunbird, 1173g RTF minus battery pack 1400g with a 2200mAh 3S on board. The Excalibur has a quoted flying weight of 1250g I might be able to match that with a smaller battery! Even so, if not the better aerodynamics should make up for any extra. Then there's the weight of a limiter (to add to both I guess though!) Tony
Baldyslapnut
Do not worry about the weight. Plus there is no need for a limiter at this stage. Come along and have a go and see if it appeals to you. Greg
SilentPilot
Yeah, I'd like that! Do you run any events in the Yorkshire area? Good news about the limiter... try as I might I can't find where you get them from!
Baldyslapnut
We have an event at Wetlands at Retford. Plus there could be an event on the May Bank Holiday at Buckminster. So towards the end of May. I also fly at Ringstone at the West Yorkshire club. So we could meet there and I could set up the automated course and you could give it a try. Are you subscribed the F5B UK Facebook page. I will confirm dates here towards the end of the month for competitions. Greg
SilentPilot
I'll look up the Facebook page, thanks. Plus Ringstone. Never heard of there! I'll do a search on that too
SilentPilot
Hi Greg! I’m in touch with the guys at Ringstone. They’ve made me feel really welcome. I'm hoping to get a flight or two there to get to know the crew properly before I join, maybe do my “A” (and B) test too. I’d like to sort out the formalities, particularly the A, before we setup an F5B course. Rest assured I’m still interested Tony

SilentPilot
Hi Greg, Anything on the horizon yet? I've flown at Ringstone a few times now and I'm getting more comfortable with the small landing area. I know it's not particularly small as far as RC goes but I'm a bit spoilt by flying at a full size airfield I take it the F5B course would be away from the strip and more over to the slope site. Much more comfortable there!!! I've been testing my e-Sunbird on lightweight HV LiPo packs. Only 3S so not stellar performance but quite respectable for a novice Tony
Baldyslapnut
We are having a comp at Thame at the end of the month if you want to pop down. You can try the Sunbird on the course. Greg
