Graham Woods
Meanwhile across the Channel... Had this from François Cahour (top slope aerobatic pilot) in France today. https://finesseplus.org/flying-your-models-in-france-what-you-must-know/ Looks something like we will have over here. So even when/ if we 'leave' it looks like you'll not only need a Green Card, an International Driving Licence but a French Training Certificate and personalised Stickers as well. And it appears there's more to come as well, nothing about wearing a gilet jaune though, yet. If you go to France they are mandatory in any case even if you don't want to demonstrate. EssexBOF
Worth sending the below to your MP, might save them dozing off during the Brexit debate. Dear I have recently been made aware of a consultation document produced by the Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) (CAP1775: 2019 Drone Registration Scheme: Charge Proposal Consultation Document) proposing that, in accordance with the requirements of the European Union Aviation Safety Agency (EASA), a registration scheme for ‘all operators of unmanned aircraft.’ (Radio controlled aeroplanes and drones to you and me.) I am informed by the British Model Flying Association (BMFA), who provide the third party insurance and achievement schemes, which most traditional radio control fliers subscribe to, that the CAA have made ‘excessively onerous’ demands regarding a provision in the EASA regulations that allows that ‘Associations may register their members into the registration system on their behalf’. The CAA have made a proposal that we should have to pay £16.50 per year to register and that the level of this fee would be calibrated against the cost of the scheme and the number of people registering for it. Apart from disputing the need for a registration scheme which any ‘operator of an unmanned aircraft’ with malicious intent would ignore anyway and may well be unenforceable; I fail to understand why the CAA feels the need to duplicate, at my expense, a system which effectively already exists. I would be grateful if you would convey my concern to the Minister for Transport Mr Grayling. Thank you for your attention. Yours sincerely 1

Fletch
Ah yes. A registration scheme where people volunteer to go on a SUSPECTS list, paying money to do so hoping that they will be plastered across the front pages of the tabloids as happened in the Gatwick fiasco!
