isoaritfirst
Entries close at 10pm this evening. Weather call will be made here on Friday evening. Currently the forecast is showing SSW but is shifting slightly towards SW. S - SSW = Packetstone. SW - WNW = Pole Cot. Packetstone could be “interesting”. Very easy landing, but a slope that requires accurate lines. It doesn’t cope well if the direction shifts. Haven’t run a comp on this slope before . 15 minute flattish walk Pole Cot is very tolerant of wind angle and can produce low 30’s on the right day. Hope to see you there Sunday morning.
isoaritfirst
Saturday is predicting perfect conditions for PoleCot. So why not come for the weekend.
isoaritfirst
Saturday now looks a little rough, but could be good late afternoon early evening. Sunday looks ideal.
Marc RC pilot
A bit off topic, forgive me. I remember doing a glider course at the Long Mynd back in the 90's. Long Mynd/Shropshire has got to be one of the most beautiful places in the UK... When looking down from above, you will not find a better example of our rich patch quilt countryside! Good luck chaps!
Peter G
Thanks for the info Mike I was surprised how bonnie the Shropshire hills are too the first time I went! Thought the midlands was all 'dark satanic mills' before that
isoaritfirst
I'm calling the COMP ON!. Forecast is now perfectly on to Pole Cot, with a nice wind strength. There is some light rain showers and bright skies shown.

Thought the midlands was all 'dark satanic mills' before that Midlands is a great place to live. Shropshire is gods county. Doing a MTB event over those Bonnie Hills on Saturday - forecast for the morning is wet and windy. So I might be calling them something other than Bonnie. oipigface
Sorry, Mike & Mark, I shall not be turning up on Sunday. I broke the only plane I have confidence in last weekend, and it doesn’t look like there’s going to be much opportunity for setting up another on Saturday. Hope you all have a good time. isoaritfirst
Thanks Mark it was worked from a photo taken by Paul Jubb of me with a Skorpion at hole of horton. Many years ago.
isoaritfirst
7.5C in the cloud and horizontal rain in a wind that must have been around 50mph but that was earlier today while I was out riding in the Bratch Burner Mtb event. Whole hill seemed to be running in liquid sheep ****. Suns out now. Winds blowing smack on Pole Cot. - but I’m going for a lie down, eat more cake, and then try to get some of the crud of the bike and my kit. Peter G
Well we got 5 rounds in I turned up at 9.10 and got a week wound of applause... The 8th man. Stopped at Kendal on the way home and so glad I made the ed trip. Thanks to Mike for being an optimist & everyone else for being there & persevering. Looked iffy at times with a severe cross wind delaying the start and a rain/hail shower coming through. A good win for Brett and I am quite happy with a 995 second place with Mark T 3rd. Places / scores provisional as they were done on Brett's phone.
Brett82
Thanks Pete It was good you managed to travel down, ended up being a really enjoyable day. Apart from a few nose cones getting flooded with water. I just checked the times I entered on my phone and there are two errors. I've messaged Mark but it wont effect the top 5 positions. The first error is tiny and wont effect anything. Unfortunately I think the second might drop Paul back one spot. Sorry Paul, you had a rough day and I just made it worse. I accidentally put your 1st round time in the app for round 1 and 2 by mistake. Your first round time was much quicker than your 2nd round so you will lose some points. Not sure how many though as I cant edit the results on the app. Sorry mate, I feel awful but I was trying to do it quickly so we could read the results before packing up.
