Hi all

Help from an unexpected quarter this morning........

A short news item issued on BBC TV News this morning confirmed that Tim Loughton MP had asked a question in the House which made a "point of principle" by asking the Transport Minister "Why the "innocent many" should be being charged £16.50 each to try to stop the actions of the "guilty few" in mis-using drones.......

At last! Somebody in Parliament seems to be on our side for once........Thank you Tim:thumbsup::)

Thanks and regards

Pete

Just watched the video and congratulations to Tim Houghton and several other MPs for highlighting our special case of model aircraft flying.

Unfortunately the government minister responding was not so positive. At least the letters that people sent to their MPs produced this half hour debate.

David.

Hi David

How right you are!

My blood pressure was rising dangerously as the minister responded to Tim's question.

IMHO,The Minister should apply to be on  "Strictly Come Dancing," as his abilities of wriggling, side-stepping and squirming became more and more apparent as his response droned on.......Shame on you sir!

At least we can now see that the written responses to the changes should not have been treated so lightly by Baroness Vere.....we HAVE got our point across, now the hard bit, getting it accepted. I wonder if Tim would like to receive several thousand THANK YOU's from our members?:yes::) What do you all think?

Regards

Pete

Pity Tim Houghton isn't the CEO of the BMFA.

Hi Graham

Dave Phipps was/is a gentleman, and, like most people, gives respect to people who don't deserve it......

Luckily, we now have the provable information that Tim Loughton MP  OPPOSES what the Transport Minister and Baroness Vere are doing:yes:

He has provided a workable alternative to what they want to do, and has researched how this registration scheme has been handled in the US, France and Germany (to name but a few), he is informed, and ON OUR SIDE for this problem. He has asked why the Baroness wants to develop a new system when the current system (via the association and clubs) are already in place and working, and actually said "Why ARE we we re-inventing the wheel here? and why is it going to cost us so much?

Gentlemen, let's not worry about what has happened before, this is GOOD NEWS.........now all we've got to do is make sure that the minister can be convinced to see sense and do the right thing........difficult yes, but not impossible............ But next time, don't send a gentleman to do the dirty work:thumbsup:

Regards

Pete

The minister's reply about the cost when challenged was outrageous - paraphrased by me: "Many models cost a considerable amount, therefore having to pay an additional £16.50 is perfectly OK."

I shall be sending the above link at my local MP and work to influence his views.
