Hi Andy Thank goodness I didn't tell everyone about their favourite party trick.....when two kites fly one at each wingtip of models....now that would have been spooky! Regards Pete BARCS1702 -

Just available on iPlayer. https://www.bbc.co.uk/iplayer/episode/m000cfpr/countryfile-buckinghamshire Start at 44 minutes. Good performances by Jim Wright and Andy Symons. Congratulations to all involved. -
In general, those pumps work quite well but they are *quite* loud. You might also want to look to see if they are continuously rated. The better air con pumps will be. If you use a vacuum reservoir (old compressor tank) you can get away with a pump that delivers less cfm of air movement. Not terribly 'eco' but a pump from a fridge or freezer will work and can be had for very little / free. These do work well with a reservoir as the don't move much volume but will down to ~ -24"Hg . Mind you, re-use is 'eco' so maybe Greta would approve..... Best of luck!

It was nice to be back thanks Paul. There was almost too much enjoyment what with all those walks back up the hill... I had a few decent flights and a few bad ones. I'm happy considering I've not flown much in the last couple ours years since the baby was born and not any f3f for years. The modern models are certainly much faster on the course than the older designs.

It was noticable in the early year shots, just how many flyers were there in those days. Good bit of PR, where was P B on the day? -

Best bit of the day! They where along the ridge when filming started but as soon as a couple of models launched they came straight across to join in. Awesome sight up close. -

Hi all ....and, no sooner did Jim mention that Red Kites like to join in our hairybatics, and there was a mini-clip of them doing just that! Nice one! Regards Pete BARCS1702 -

How far in to the programme is it? -
Has anyone experience of the cheap Vac pumps as sold on eBay for about £50 (a typical advert is “Vacuum Pump Rotary Vane Single 1 Stage 1/4 HP 2.5CFM, Refrigerant HVAC degassing”) I want it for Vac Bagging Composite (glass/carbon onto foam) wings. I currently have dry pump but the vac it pulls is a bit to low. The spec of these looks OK but I would like to hear it anyone uses this sort of device before purchasing.

Hi Tony, I'll be there rain or shin, carm or windy. Bring the kettle

One of the slope soarers was my Shinto, not very nice weather on the day. Nice to see some of the old footage from the 60's and a good interview with Jim Wright from the ISA. David. -
Hi Tony, you may know or not know, I have been in hospital recently. Recovering, slower than I had expected, however a little anticipation and friendly company might help. Depending on weather and my sate of health I will try to be there even if only as a spectator? Nipper will enjoy a free day on the field. I caught a weather forecast this morning for the middle of the week, looked encouraging? Cliff

If you want a retaining lip, then use two pieces of epoxy board. Drill one for the o/d of the bearing and the other a size smaller then stick them together Make the one with the larger hole fit in the wing as a part rib. make it a loose fit in the wing, assemble on the servo and tack it in with a big gob is stiff epoxy. Remove servo and then add better glue around its edges. Loose fit and Gobbed with thick epoxy so that it doesn’t put any deformation on the wing skins.

Hi Tony, Weather permitting I’ll join you Wednesday regards Garry
-
The one I finally succeeded with is 5mm epoxy glass sheet. I’m currently having a go at servo arms/roll-drives, but progress isn’t worth reporting on. It’s the last part I can’t make myself other than bearings and shafts.

I will consider sensible offers. -
Well I'm not sure it was the bearing's fault the model ended up in the salty brine to be fair.... In the past I made a new bearing holder out of g10/epoxy board. No problem.
