    1/4 Scale PIK 20

This looks like an absolute belter! We had a Pik 20b at our gliding club a while back. Lovely machine, but no airbrakes on that one, just 90deg Flap / Brakes If this had a retract and a nose hook I think I could get lots of interest from my fellow full scale glider pilots. I'd even offer to tow it with my Tundra

If you need room in your workshop I can buy it and pick it up on my way back from Manchester. I'll keep hold of it until my next foray South where I can pass it to Mr Beadle

Also think about some carbon patches to be really sure. Put the fillets round the peg first, then the patch, soak with thin CA, and blot most of it off again. Cover with cling film, add a soft foam block, and compress over night.
  5. I had one years ago..... never really got on with it....out of my comfort zone at the time.

I’m not trusting it to fully hold the peg, I just put a fillet one side and next I’m gonna fill with thin CA (hoping the dried IC-2000 will stop it flowing out the other side) and probably use the baking soda trick too. Then a fillet bottom side to seal it all off. Hoping that’s enough, the rest of the plane is pretty bodged now to get it done so what more could go wrong?.....

Me neither. I use thin regular CA and baking soda. Dries almost instantly and is super hard. Make a fillet top and bottom

I like IC-2000, but not sure I would use it / trust it to secure the peg. I used laminating epoxy with mine, thickened up with mico balloons to make a fillet. Never had a problem with it.

Just putting my peg in and trying some of the IC-2000, but how long does it take to cure? Made the first fillet on one side ready to drip thin CA in from the other, but it's been a hour now and it's still wet. I thought it would set pretty quickly?.

Hi Tony, Please count me in too. GBR 192030 Cheers.
  21. Or a shelving unit........... Cool model to own though. Hope the maiden flight goes well.
  22. Haha! Me neither! I'll post my comments on here once i've flown it. i do agree with you though. The wings aren't as 'pleasing' to look at as the fuse. THey almost look like they belong on another model! Still, it's an interesting 'retro' airframe and i'm looking forward to flying it.
  23. Well I've never flown one, I'm purely talking about asthetics here. The wing is not pretty in my view. The simprop sagitta project 2 was a similar looking fuselage with a more sympathetic wing.

Hi Julianb PM sent. Regards Steve
  25. Hi Satinet, I think that's probably a fair assessment of the airframe - I've had similar thoughts. I'm intending to fly it with the original wings for the time being. I may well look into fabricating alternative wings for it in the future if i decide i'd like to experiment with improving the models performance.
  26. I've always thought it was a really nice looking fuselage with a board for a wing.

Not looking so 'rosie' now. If it doesn't improve, I will have to pull out. I really should be working on Saturday, so if the weather is looking so bad, I will have to choose work over a wet and windy field.
