Thanks, that’s the one I found too but I can’t zoom in and read it I managed to lay a protractor on my iPad though and estimate it to be 10° Does that seem about right?

Here is the Outerzone plan download which seems to zoom in without loosing clarity. https://outerzone.co.uk/plan_details.asp?ID=8884 No measurements but there is a clear drawing of the wing joiners in elevation to give the angle.

Cheers wookman I've been reading up on the 2m Algebra so see what dihedral is should have. I guess most people do their research before getting the plane though eh... I did find a plan and it shows bent wing joiners but I cant read what it says and zooming in just makes it blurry. It seems the way if flew matches how others describe. It can be slow to turn but once over it almost needs to be held off with top rudder. I must say I did notice this, though I think I only needed to centre the stick to stop the roll. Not typical of a R/E model, they usually self right if left alone... The wallowy feel can be reduced slightly by reducing the dihedral (though nobody says what to!) and/or moving the CG forward slightly. I know I was close to the (Aft?) CG markings that Pete had put on. Maybe that is too far back for slope use with its associated turbulence. I'll keep looking for a book dihedral angle!

Very nice, and you know Baudis do good quality. I've seen some of the other scale Baudis models, but not this one. @LS8-18 I guess different people have a different version of famous... lol

Straighten the joiner to achieve designed dihedral. Get as much rudder movement as you can and use expo to soften the response to taste. Don't slow the rudder servo.

Thanks Pete by the way, it flew real nice as long as I didn’t try to control it too much! I think it might try a little more nose weight next time it goes in a moderate breeze. I haven’t bungee launched it yet. A combination of strong wind and not having it fully dialled in yet was enough to put me off!

Hi SP Just straightening the 6 gauge joiner wire a little should solve this problem, straighten the wire a little at a time, fly it, and see if the reduced dihedral does the trick.....if not ,reduce the dihedral a little each time, until it does To straighten the joiner wire and reduce the dihedral, mark the centre of the wire with some 1/2|" or 1" masking tape wrapping the tape round twice. Mark the exact centre with a black pen, clamp the wire in the jaws of a biggish vice, so that the wire is clamped into the vice exactly on the centre mark, slide a round metal tube (I use a car badge bar with a 1/2" ID one metre long) onto the wire, then apply pressure - slowly - until you see the joiner bending at the centre mark and until the dihedral is reduced to the amount required Repeat if necessary until the required reduction in dihedral is achieved Good luck Pete BARCS1702
  15. Hi, I am trying to decide my next step. Either buy a new wing £80, complete new kit £180, used wing if ones available. I have already repaired, successfully, the fuz. Alternatively would you consider repairing the wing for a fee?

Mr wookman you were spot on! Initially turns seemed nice enough but once bank is established there is indeed an ugly amount of Dutch Roll going on. Things get better with expo and reduced throws but i don’t like landing with severely reduced throw. I'm tempted to try slowing the rudder servo slightly! Then again it’s probably not a good landing configuration either... What’s the best way to straighten the wire? I’ll try get some more though.

Nice one Jon... yes I've noticed that bigger lift does often seem to be accompanied by bigger wind...

Updated Table Well done Jon W - nice to see you back flying again. I went out with mine yesterday as well (still unflown), but the breezy southerly was hopeless - across the narrowest part of the field and a large copse of 100 ft trees immediately downwind. A non starter I am afraid.
  19. Hi Sounds promising. Less servo's would you take £70? £100 with servo's? Cheers Jon

sounds like fun, and a good leveler if launch height is no longer a significant factor

Might be interested in a straight purchase if you can ship safely. Whats your best price plus shipping please?
  23. Hawk wing, light or standard, wanted. Any colour.
  24. I have a light Hawk with one repair done to the fuz. Today I lost it in the sun which resulted in a tent peg which has creased the wing and tail plane. I have a new tailplane. Might sell on less servos and radio as it’s just too fragile for a novice like me.

    F3K and Mozzy 14-day challenges 2020

Great to finally get out again. Fab weather today. Flew both light and regular NXT. Lots of 20 min flights. Never seen so many red kites in the air. I was circling with over 10 at one point. Flew ballasted most of the day as the infill was very strong and easy to get caught out downwind. 7 hrs of flying goes some way to satisfy the addiction after going cold turkey!! Long may this amazing weather continue.

    Avalon Build & Flight Log

The maiden flight has taken place this afternoon. Unfortunately Burton Dassett was having a bad hair day and the (long) first flight was mostly scratching very hard trying to stay alive. Not ideal for a new model. It's difficult to give assessment of a model in these conditions. The throws I had were too soft in the roll axis. Not sure about the CG - feel light it would want to go back rather than forward. It seemed to turn well in EM style turns but the conditions didn't allow for much of that. The rudder on the model is noticeably effective and it flies very easily in the thermal turn. Really it's very pleasant in the turn on the rudder with very little correction needed. Maybe I just got lucky on the thermal settings but it had very little tendency to over roll or under roll while turning.

    GP15

Hi Leigh I DO like the way your "panoramic view" pic on your header, makes those lovely slim wings change from straight to curved dihedral from root to tip Also I think that people not knowing which kit it was, is a nice "back-handed compliment" on your finding out about, and wanting the GP15....I'm thinking it's going to be the "only one in the UK" for a while yet.......of course, I may be wrong! Regards Pete BARCS1702

    1st 2020 2m Hi Start 14 day Duration Challenge

First flying session in a long time this morning. I saw a weather window between 10-12am between enough lift and before the wind built up too much. Pleasant flying with some decent height gain and a couple of multiple thermal flights but nothing to trouble Jon - my best was 9:50. As the bigger lift started to come through it was getting a bit too windy to follow it downwind. Thanks for the impetus to get the Slite fettled and the TX charged though! Very enjoyable getting out again but more practice needed. Jon
