    BAMF boom repair

I figured as much and that’s exactly what I did. Gaps were actually much smaller than I thought. Outside reinforcement is curing in the airing cupboard now. Balance before work and re-maiden at lunch hopefully.

Oh yes, I forgot ... Do you remember Simon Hall ? He used to work in the pub (no longer with us )

    Dear Diary

Sadly the Barge Inn closed a while back - shame - lovely spot - used to be great to warm up by the fireside with a pint after a slope session Phil.

I’ve only built and flown Snipes too, they are dead easy, even I can build those

So for pre-cured patches (cause I was trying to make the plane look as clean as I could) should they still have gone on after the peg was in?. I haven’t put a fillet on the bottom yet so I will get some thin CA into the peg and then make a bottom fillet of CA and baking soda.

Stop fretting. Everyone gets it wrong in the learning process. If you are not willing to get it wrong, you will never learn. Nothing is ruined. The patches you have glued will be fine. Just don't get a monster launcher to throw you glider and it will be fine. If it comes loose, fix it. It happens. Just fly.

Oh well, being a leftie the left wing tip should be OK for a rightie

Guys, I apologise, I’m clogging up your forum with a task that’s really not that difficult. If there’s a next time then I’m paying to have my planes built for me.

Would also fill the gap before adding carbon to the outside

I went wrong again, I already CA’d pre-cured patches down cause I don’t have a hardpoint, then opened the peg holes back up again in the patches first, then started to put the peg in. I have a feeling it’s probably trash now, I need to walk away from it again.

This looks like an absolute belter! We had a Pik 20b at our gliding club a while back. Lovely machine, but no airbrakes on that one, just 90deg Flap / Brakes If this had a retract and a nose hook I think I could get lots of interest from my fellow full scale glider pilots. I'd even offer to tow it with my Tundra

If you need room in your workshop I can buy it and pick it up on my way back from Manchester. I'll keep hold of it until my next foray South where I can pass it to Mr Beadle

Also think about some carbon patches to be really sure. Put the fillets round the peg first, then the patch, soak with thin CA, and blot most of it off again. Cover with cling film, add a soft foam block, and compress over night.
  23. I had one years ago..... never really got on with it....out of my comfort zone at the time.

Look out for a bodged NXT on eBay soon

I’m not trusting it to fully hold the peg, I just put a fillet one side and next I’m gonna fill with thin CA (hoping the dried IC-2000 will stop it flowing out the other side) and probably use the baking soda trick too. Then a fillet bottom side to seal it all off. Hoping that’s enough, the rest of the plane is pretty bodged now to get it done so what more could go wrong?.....

Still for sale and open to offers....
