    WANTED CCM Vantage Wing Joiner

Hi Paul. Sorry to hear about your friend’s Vantage but can’t offer to help - don’t know anyone who has one. Assuming you’re Paul Bartlett, do you plan to run the Firs Farm Aerotow this year as it was a great success. Good luck with the search for the spares. Richard Edmunds
  7. is this going to happen mark ?

CRESt : F5L : 25/4/24 : 28:00 Well that was interesting ! Trying to work thermals that are 5m across. Fly through and you bounce up, turn to circle round and you sink. First, the full flight, with the now standard 56m motor cut. Almost no breeze, maybe 1 or 2 mph above 60m. Many times I found lift and I knew it was there, yet, unless perfectly positioned it did not go up. So there would be a few circles maintaining height, then when in it there was 30 seconds of lift and then it dodged out of my way. Oh, lots of VERY high gulls. Then at 13mins I actually got in real lift. You have to see the expanded version, because though in the very narrow band – well just look at how it got bounced. Then the in it / lost it / in it / lost it. Here is about the 20mins mark. Again bouncing about, but with the added fun of sudden gusts of wind, which could be in any direction. So each time the wind changed, I went down wind to look. Again bouncing through narrow bands. One last thing, from half way through it kept spitting with rain. I decided that if the weight etc of the rain brought it down, then it would come down. But after a good 10mins, I was not going to be the one that brought it down. When do I get widespread lift and zero wind ?

Easily hand launched: (not the one I’m selling, but the same plane/set up)
  12. The 'early bird' entry fee of only £10 per day ends April 30th, so you only have 5 more days to get registered at this price! The entry fee after 30th April then goes up to the normal £15 per day, all entries close 20th May. It is a no brainer, if you intend to compete at Radioglide, then get yourself entered.

  14. Yeah it was really surprising how much lift there was given flight started at 7pm and it was also only about 7deg C. I was always under the impression that generally one cannot expect much lift after about 5pm.... Clearly not.... Additionally there was no direct sunshine for majority of flight due a sun being low behind cloud, despite blue sky above me. Really enjoyed it. Was worried about battery as this was actually my 11th launch on same battery. But still landed with 3.8V per cell. Great these GNB 850mAH batteries.
  15. Hi Ian Can you add me in please. Open, 2.4ghz and have limiter. Cheers ian

Purito-E : F5L : 24th April 2024 : Not longer than a previous flight Harden moor - Time 16:00 to 17:35 - 2 - 4mph N - temperature: hat and scarf - Wide cumulus Finished work early (all hail flexi time) and thought this is too nicer day to not go flying before picking number 3 daughter up. Flight #104 - 28m 35s. With the clouds how they were and the odd bout of sunshine there was always a chance of catching a thermal. They were very leisurely thermals. Once up there it was a matter of mooching around a wide area and picking up a bit of lift. Up there it seemed for a while I couldn't go wrong. I had hoped for a save at the end but couldn't keep centered. Flight #112 - 13m ish. After a few up and downs I caught on to this thermal. Time was running out so tried a couple of rolls. Not quite like I saw @Alex Maxfield perform his roll at Buckminster a few weeks a go. His was very nice. Richard
  20. Medina : F5L : 24-04-24 : 1 hour 11 mins 8 secs Amazing conditions this evening in Ashton Court Bristol. When I first arrived it was a bit breezy for the Medina, so I flew my CX5 F3K for about 1/2 hr. There was patchy but good lift, blue sky with nice cumulus. Then as the wind dropped I decided to fly the Medina. First few flights weren’t that great. Then the wind dropped almost completely and I caught some soft but consistent lift up to 500m. Eventually the lift seemed to be almost everywhere and it was hard to lose height for the majority of the flight. The 2 big drops from height were using the spoilers. There were times when it was so high and a bit of a distance away that I was struggling to make out orientation against blue sky. So I flew more based on having it against a white cloud for better visibility and closer to me, than where the lift was. It took quite a while to relax and get comfortable with flying so high and make very small stick movements to avoid any nose down / high speed situations, which would have been hard to see and could have caused flutter. my eyes were struggling at the highest point at 623m. So hats off to you Carl for flying at 800! Wow! My longest ever flight by a comfortable margin. Landed around 8:15pm Made even better by a wonderful sunset and being surrounded by cowslips and orchids. Flying doesn’t get much better than this.
