  2. Very sorry to hear this Tony, could your radio gear not be sent back for repairs, or even in extremis, be replaced?

    Any new models ?

Pete, is it much of a step up from the Vaiana Sport? I know of one other member building the Encanto.

    Any new models ?

Not seen any new models on here for a while, any one else got something to show ? I built this Encanto during the winter and was able to give it a few maiden flights recently on a rare fine but breezy day when it had stopped raining. Hope to enter a few comps with it.
  6. I have amended the entry form to stay open for another week. Please PM me if you are not planning to come next weekend.
  7. Wish I could say same about this Dutch caravan site!!! ... Put me down please, Mike.
  8. Well I'm here already, looks like I'm staying the week. Tomorrow looks like a decent day, and Sunday "could" be a good day on the wrecker.
  9. O dear just as I sorted a bed for Saturday night, best see if I can make it next weekend tgen
  10. If the forecast looks flyable for Sunday I'll still head up for some fun Ian
  11. I have been patiently waiting for the weather forecasts to change, but they all seem to agree that there will be no wind this weekend. Maybe Sunday afternoon could be just about flyable, but it's hit and miss. With that in mind, I am calling it OFF and moving to the reserve dates next weekend.
  12. It’s a difficult one, Xc is showing light 7-12 mph NE on Sunday in Nantymoel, probably a bit more on the hill, so flyable if this can be believed. Unflyable Saturday so spot flying - dlg/electric assist. looking at the long range next weekend looks wet. G
  13. Ian please add me to the list. Open. 2.4. Have limiter. Wellies, snorkel and flippers no longer required. Fish Meadow has finally dried out! Yipee! Steve.
  14. Fortunately it was directly above me, and stayed in that position. It was strange that there was no breeze at all at that height making the Resco drift.
  15. I just didn't dare take my eyes of it, in case I lost sight of it. It was directly above me the whole time, giving me a crick neck.
  16. Synoptic chart shows it will be right in the middle of a high pressure system - i.e. not much wind - but will be dry & maybe sunny ! Phil.

Another nose repair - canopy style

Just done the hard work bit - sanding back across the break - nice shallow "U" profile for the new carbon & epoxy. Mostly done with rough 80 grade wrapped around a half-round file. Its the first time I've done one with kevlar in the layup - horrible stuff - doesnt sand cleanly, fluffs up. All masked up ready for the messy sticky carbon & epoxy bit. Phil.
  18. Sunday looks like it might work a bit but is anybody going to be brave enough to load up enough ballast to go sub 40?

You should be a fighter pilot with eyes that good. Nice.
  21. You will regret it Tony. As you know, I also race RC yachts. Racing is full of competitors shouting at one another, claiming that they had rights, an overlap, insufficient time to avoid a collision etc. Much of this is very subjective. The setting up of the boats is an art in itself. Ultimately, I find F5J a far more pleasant day out. Hang on to your Elnino s for a bit. See you Sunday.

    El Ninos for sale

Hi, looks like the post didn't complete. Are you selling both as a package or separately?
  23. Could someone with local knowledge comment on the forecast for the weekend please? All the forecasts I follow have been stable all week, showing no wind on Saturday, and a very very gentle breeze (if anything at all) on Sunday. I'd obviously really want to be flying, but think this looks pretty unlikely so if anyone has a realistic assessment it would be appreciated.

    El Ninos for sale

2 El Ninos - one in nice condition, the other a little battered but still flies well. Includes: 2 El Ninos 2 Tattu 850 LiPos 1 GliderKeeper - only one canopy between the models. Best El Nino fitted with Tenshock T12 + VIPER 1020-12T 4pole 5200KV with Reisenauer Micro Edition 5:1N gbox GM 12x8 folding props x 2 (4 blades) 2 x Aria 'drone' ESCs, 2 x BECs Reisenauer gearbox maintenance kit 1 x HyperFlight model bag Battered El Nino needs a new motor firewall and motor. I have a new in box Tenshock 1030/11T that I'd planned to fit in it available. There might be other stuff. £1000 for both (excludes new in box Tenshock 1030/11T, see separate ad for that) PM me with questions. Could be picked up this Sunday at Little Bentley, otherwise collect from North Essex or meet 30 mile radius of Manningtree.
  25. I'm withdrawing from the comp., my El Nino doesn't want to bind any more and I don't have patience or enthusiasm to fix it. I thought I might hang in to competition flying for at least this year but I'm done. I've had more minutes racing sailboats in the last 6 months than I have flying in the last 6 years - and it's a whole lot easier on the body. Nice El Nino for sale in the classified ads section

I bet you hardly blinked for 9 minutes.
  27. Kavan Resco : F5L : 18/04/2024 : 23m 53s Absolutely gorgeous day down here in Devon! I popped down to my local field earlier this time to beat the 9 to 10 mph wind that was forecast from midday. Barely a breeze which made finding thermals much easier. But they were pretty weak. I had one flight circling with three buzzards, but they were having to do the occassional flap of there wings, and that flight didn't last too long. The best flight time so far was approx 4 mins. I went for one last flight. I have three battery packs for the Resco, from which I get six lauches from each pack, making 18 launches in total. I had 17 launches, so I had one launch left available. I thought this last flight was going to be short too, but I came over to where my streamer was indicating a light thermal, and it was enough to maintain the current altitude (which the Altas graph shows was about 40m). After my timer called out 3 mins I noticed the Resco starting to climb very slowly. My streamer started indicating more to my left, so I moved the Resco over to my left and continued slowly climbing. Then the streamer indicated to my right, so I moved the Resco over to my right and still climbing. This continued and found the Resco climbing higher and higher. I thought I must be only 200m up, but shocked when I downloaded the Altas data what the actual altitude was! Fortunately I have very good long eyesight, and basically allowing the Resco circling handsfree at this point. There was just no wind up there, so it remained in the same spot, circling away quite happily. I could just about make it out circling. I was very close to the decision to force the Resco down to a lower altitude, and I heard the timer call 13mins, after which I felt a change in the air, and sure enough I was beginning to see the Resco more clearly, it was coming down of its own accord. I was aware I needed to get home, so I didn't go hunting for another thermal but just let it slowly come back down to earth. Towards the end of the flight, I was hit by a strong, violent thermal that ripped my cap off my head, and of course you have the associated strong sink to go with it. A magical flight Carl
