    Swift S1 - 2.88m

a solid 20mm carbon bar is not that easy to find hence why a 20mm and 18mm glued together as the model comes with a carbon bar wrapped in kevlar but it bends even on just a bit of a pull and when i asked them they just said get a stainless one but its so so heavy , the Tomahawk Fox is 4.5m and that just has a carbon tube and its not very thick walled and the couple that mates have fly them very hard as they are electric as well and they haven't had ant issues . i was very surprised when i built one for a mate and it was just a carbon tube . will give them a try once i have cut them to length and glued them together

    F5 RES-Raven design & build

Hello Neil, Ive just found your Raven topic after recommendation by David Poole. I find your design and construction very innovative and nothing like the commercial Fx RES models I have been building. Do you have any of your Raven "kits" available as I would love to assemble and fly one? Im also interested in your 3D printed Cutting Jig but I'm not sure this was something you were intending to manufacture for other modelers. Please let me know how I might obtain a Raven kit. Thanks - John Barrow

F3L Richard Newsham Pete Newman Lawrence Drennan David Poole F5L Rob Craddock Gordon B Alex Maxfield David Poole If you wish to take part and have not yet entered, we can accept a maximum of 2 more entries in each class, providing you notify us by 12:00 TOMORROW - FRIDAY. No additional entries will be accepted after that time. The weather forecast is bright/sunny. Wind decreasing through the day. Entry fee is £5 cash (to me) but an additional £10 Buckminster usage charge may have to be paid. Please pay this at Reception on arrival. Pilots Brief at 10:00 Competition Start 10:15 F3L Round 1 will go first followed by F5L Round 1 followed by F3L Round 2 etc. Each round set (for both classes) will take approximately 45 minutes. 3 Rounds in the morning, a break for lunch followed by 2 rounds in the afternoon. Flyoffs (top 2 from each class). at about 3:30pm. Wrap up at 4:00pm with a short prizegiving. F5L Height limiters. These should be set (as per FAI rules) to 90m and 30 seconds run time. Emergency restart will be allowed but if you use it, then that flight attempt will obviously score a ZERO. Please bring a stopwatch. You will be expected to time-keep if you are not flying. F3L & F5L competition at Buckminster on the 30th March.

A few questions please. When will the go or no-go decision be made? What hours will the contest run? I'm assuming FxRES practice with 9.00 field open, 10.00 sign up open, 10.45 briefing, 11.00 to 15.00 work times,15.30ish fly-offs And should we try to download any app for scoring? Thanks! Just hope the weather (or lack of entrants) doesn't scupper us! Lots to learn day ahead...

F3K League Event: Buckminster 30-31st March

For everyone entering the competition this weekend, we need to know when you are arriving so we can arrange access to the site. The main caming field is closed due to the condition of the soft ground, camping will be on the hard standing and if you are under canvas, then the small field behind the hanger is in use, but no vehicles are allowed on the grass. If you are arriving before Saturday morning then please reach out to Manny Williamson to arrange access as soon as possible please. Manny Williamson on manny@bmfa.org or 0116 2441091

***CANCELLED*** 'Come Try' DLG & F3K Event 2024

^^^^ I was just dropping by to say I won't be attending. Mostly due to the weather, but also my new glider isn't ready. I'll look out for a reschedule. Steve.

F3K League Event: Buckminster 30-31st March

***CANCELLED*** 'Come Try' DLG & F3K Event 2024

It is with much regret that we have to cancel the 'Come Try' event scheduled for this coming Friday. Unfortunately the weather forecast is beyond flying limits, we hope to schedule another 'Come Try' event in the summer, more details to follow.

I'll be there for F3L. I was holding back as the long range forecasts had not been good for Easter weekend... hopefully Saturday will be possible

FxRES Comp- BMFA Buckminster 29th March 2024 - Called off

Shame but understandable. Could have been a test for the RES Raven high wind wing! Having said that, it’s not very sensible to try the latest version out at a comp! Unfortunately won’t be there for the Saturday either Neil P

FxRES Comp- BMFA Buckminster 29th March 2024 - Called off

Good call to cancel Friday. Saturday's forecast is better but still uncertain as of now. And good point for all our contests more broadly. I wonder if we should open all this year's contests for entry - or at least expressions of interest - so we can all show out intentions? I've already entered Radioglide. Weather, school holidays and other events intervene for all of us...

FxRES Comp- BMFA Buckminster 29th March 2024 - Called off

I have called the Friday 29th March 2024 FxRES competition off due to high wind speeds reported by multiple weather websites. I don't know if potential competitors were holding off for a weather call to make a final decision to attend or had made their own minds up not to participate due to the uncertainty of the weather, but with only a couple of people expressing interest in participating in the competition I'm not sure a competition would have been viable even if the weather had been okay. It is important to let the CD know, via the BARCS forum for the competition, if you are interested in participating in the competition.

F3L & F5L competition at Buckminster on the 30th March.

Current forecast for Saturday from ECMWF shows mean wind 13mph (6m/s) gusting 24mph (11 m/s) with showers after noon. But other forecasts show wide range of wind and rain so I take it as high uncertainty so far. More data in the forecasts runs tomorrow should narrow that. --Pete

F3L & F5L competition at Buckminster on the 30th March.

I noticed too but don't have an F5 option. How many have responded in total so far, @martynk? I realise not everyone may have posted here. Are we already quorate for the two classes?
  28. Richard Newsham

F3L & F5L competition at Buckminster on the 30th March.

Hi Martyn It looks like you may be struggling to make a team up for F3L and F5L. If it is of any help I can try my hand at F5L to at least try and make a team. Sorry to Pete in Northiam if it makes F3L a non viable proposition. If you do suddenly receive an influx of people participating I still would like to fly F3L. Regards Richard
