    UPDATED - THE FUTURE OF ESC’s for F5J ?

Nice one Mike. Well done and thanks for posting your feedback. Close to 300 people have now downloaded the "How To" Notes on this subject. It would be helpful if a few more people provided some feedback on which Drone ESC's they have tried and if it has been successful. Colin

    Drone & Model Aircraft Code

Anything flown under treetop height should be exempt. Me flying my Champ in a public park under treetop height isn’t going to affect aviation in the slightest...

    Drone & Model Aircraft Code

Paper aeroplanes might be a grey area because it does include free flight...

    Drone & Model Aircraft Code

as I recall the CAA had to issue clarification that it didn't include darts/paper aeroplanes/frisbies and the like.

    Drone & Model Aircraft Code

Just read CAP 1763 and it states the FRZ applies to ALL unmanned vehicles. Even small 'Toys'.

    Drone & Model Aircraft Code

Can't remember where I read it but I thought FRZs only applied to multi rotors and camera platforms (though not sure if it explicitly said FPV). Flying a fixed wing model LOS without a camera wasn't included.

    Drone & Model Aircraft Code

Ok, so 90 views and no answers... I've re-re-read the Code and the CAP 1763 guidance. It looks like the FRZ restriction rules apply no matter how small the model aircraft. I wonder how many club sites it impacts?? The rules (in 4) on distance to people, >1000 crowds, built up areas, buildings etc, seem to apply only to drones and models that have a CAMERA, but: "Even if you don’t have a camera, you must still fly safely, so following these points will help you do this." In other words, it looks like the Code will be advisory when it's not mandatory. I'm sure that if a pilot had an incident and the model was under 250g the Code would be used against them. Like the Highway Code. With dog walkers, joggers etc, the 50m rule may be challenging in practice, especially on a lovely day.

    Wanted - Needle 124 tails

Thanks for getting back to me it is most appreciated. I also have a pair of tails that are relatively easily repairable I was just being lazy as not much time or enthusiasm to do so. I am now in contact with Thuro. Thanks again Neil

[SOLD] - Wanted - MKS DS6125 servo (or gears)

I asked Neil at Hyperflight this question. He said no. In particular, the output shaft is different. I have had two offers now, which should be enough to keep planes in the air, so I’ll close this down. Thanks to all!

Don't the KST gears actually fit now I think about it?

Silent flight at the BMFA AGM.

Thanks to all of you who made the effort to put on this display, it all helps to raise the profile of silent flight and BARCS with the BMFA

Lol no worries. Avalon is a Super Ava Pro with Ailerons at 3.7 or 3.8m depending on the info available on the net. It's not just a Super Ava Pro with ailerons though it's designed specifically. Very easy to fly, I have flown one once before but not my one, huge presence. mine weighs in at 1800 grams, this is not heavy for this plane and it will glide forever. It's just not the latest mouldie out there but it is a brilliant model. Without going and finding all my spec sheets I'm running a HET 2W with a Konotronik gearbox, suitable size spinner(s) 3 sets of blades (New), Jeti 44 and Jeti 77 (New) esc, ultra guard 430 (New) failsafe back up, two new Tattu 4S 1800's. XT60 connectors. Think it pulls about 600W, again I need my sheets to confirm. It really does need to go flying as it's a criminal waste just sat here. If I want to fly comps I have enough good 2m models to do this. If I wanted to fly F5J comps then I need more than the one model. I did have a prototype of another model but this went to a forum member a while back. If anyone wants more specifics etc just drop me a line but I'm at the hospital for most of tomorrow so it'll be tomorrow evening or more than likelt Tuesday morning when I get back to anyone. Cheers, Tony

I’ve yet to lookup exactly what an Avalon is but I’m willing to offer a Pike WR which goes up winches nice and a 4m R/E model that also has a hook though wouldn’t want to Winch that. Reserved only for milder type bungee/hi-starts. I could maybe offer up the Winch too. Hopefully get the cash top up to a manageable level Oops sorry. Not meant to post that. I meant to save and close the window while I looked up an Avalon!

Silent flight at the BMFA AGM.

It was a very good and informative display with (I think) 3 laptops running with rolling presentations. I wish I had brought a F3-RES to make it confusing.
  24. Hi All I bought this off Brett on the other forum for £550 last year. It was and is in immaculate condition. I have never flown her but she now has new Hyperflight wing bags, 2 x 1800Mah 4S Tattu lipos, Hyper Spinner, Hyper 14 x 10 props, and a new 77esc. Plus lots more. Everything is as or it's all new, mainly the latter. I honestly can say you won't see anything better. I wouldn't sell her for less than £650, she is that good. I will post pictures only weather permitting and hopefully next week. I will never probably fly her for two reasons, my Club field is too small and I haven't got many seasons flying left, the latter is the main one lol. So I would rather fly something I've always wanted while I can instead of admiring this engineering feat of modelling magic. I would like something semi modern I could winch safely and maybe a big old nostalgia that I could gently winch. Not to far off my mystery glider I've just got or something similar to Steve Haley and his Fathers' models. Easy flying, relaxing nothing too precise to set up but no rubbish please, not that anyone would offer it but I just want to be clear from the start. Nothing that needs lugging up hills either please. Open to all offers, splits, cash differences or anything else for that matter! The only aim is to fly and fly something nice and iconic with a bit of character if possible. I will include the chair and flask! Get yourself a cracking model for this Christmas. Cheers, Tony
  25. This was easy fix, make sure Arduino is flashed for BL32 Bootloader (USB/Com)! Mike

    1s batteries

Found these this evening never used. £15 posted ok? Or a good nick (Not blown) 2200mah 3S for charging my quad batteries, XT60 end if possible?

    400ft Rule

I seem to remember a diagram that attempted to show what this rule meant for a slope flyer, but it made very little sense so I dismissed it. I’m with Mark. Carry on as we always have.

    Wanted - Needle 124 tails

I’ve got some but they are in sufficiently poor nick that I decided not to repair them myself, and ordered a new pair from Thuro. If you are at all interested I can send you a photo, and some more detail about the state they are in.
