hi Leo it is the pro with the long thin nose I purchased it from hyper flight with the idea to make my own wings but have never got round to it .I will get it out the loft and take a pic for you tomorrow . It has the boom with the elevator pylon and rocker already fitted . thanks Rob

    Very civilised Phil!
  5. Hi john, i’d certainly be interested in manufacturing a couple for personal use. Are you interested in parting with said items? best wishes, mike

    PROGLIDE BF

Looks great, Colin (& Kev). Hope to see it perform at RG Bob
  7. In case anyone is interested, my Essex bound friends and I made some 'near-identical' versions. The mould has probably had it but the plug is useable. The geometry issues, wing roots, etc were corrected and a marginally larger nose radius formed. I have the wing templates for foam/veneer wings as well! Just saying .... in case anyone feels compelled to remanufacture.

Beautiful looking bird Pete...Like an Albatross. She must look /"feel" beautiful up there. I'm good for about a tenner/skint, but just wanted to say that's all

    Dear Diary

New slope for me this evening - Cherhill White Horse - near Calne Wilts - doesnt look much from the main road - A4 - but after a stiff 15 min steep hike up - its a lovely spot! - series of steep bowls from NW through N to NE. Excellent pub nearby too Phil.

Very impressive model Colin, well done. And the finish is a step up on your earlier models.

This is the glass layup. There is no provision for ballast. Not too difficult to make up lead weight to fit into the fus at the balance point. But you would not get much in and I have never needed it. I use 3 different weight wing joiners. Only makes a small change but for thermal performance it can make a lot of difference. Norma flying weight with lipo / rx and the standard joiner is 634g With a light hollow carbon joiner the weight is 628g And with a steel joiner the weight goes up to 676g.

    PROGLIDE BF

PROGLIDE BF For anyone thats interested here are a few pics and some brief details of the latest version of the Proglide that Kevin Beale and I (Colin Paddon) have been developing/building over the past 3-4years. We try to do something slightly different with each new Proglide we build in order to learn from it and so it is with my latest one. This is my 3.8m windy weather BIG FLAP (BF) version that is built with a strong layup/spar and our new slimmed down fuselage pod and boom. I've used a lot of 3D printed parts in this one. I was hoping for a finished RTF weight of around 1500-1600g with provision for 500g of ballast. That idea went out the window when the RTF weight including the 1000mah 4 Cell Lipo came in at 1325g RTF. Im not really sure why its so light after all the additional strengthening I put into it but it is. I think we're just getting a little better on the lay-up's with each one we build. Found out late in the day that with our new fuse pod I could only get a single ballast tube into the fuse so at the moment I'm limited to adding 350g of ballast. Need to look at this again some time. There may be a way to increase this. Everywhere we looked for info on the Synergy section that we now use (which has proven itself to be a stellar performer in a wide range of conditions), indicated that a big flap version shouldnt really work but I fancied giving it a go. It's the kind of thing you can do when a complete wing only costs you £170 in materials. Its the large amount of manhours to build a plane like this that is the real hidden cost. If it doesnt work though, just build a different one! So how does it perform. Well its early days but so far I'm extremly pleased with its performance. It placed first in its debut competition having only had one test flight before hand. The BIG FLAPS definately seem to add another dimension to its performance particulary when scratching in light lift. I wont know what its like in wind until we go to a windy comp. So sometime soon no doubt! One slight issue is that I now know for sure that if you go with big flaps you'd better have a big elevator to compensate for it when using crow. Its not a major issue but do I need to re-design the tailplane to help with this. So what next? Im seeing an awful lot of Eurotour F5J pilots flying big V Tails on their planes so I'll probably try that which as I have removable booms on all my Proglides shouldnt be a major job. Colin
  16. I understand from Joe that this trip is going ahead, so if you are interested in securing a place in the Barn, please do get in touch - there are still some places available. Cheers Chris
  17. I've found the rules now! (That was my question)

  19. Altis AMRT keyboard On Sunday I couldn't get the keyboard to work as it used to and have discovered in email reply (within the hour) to my query that what I was trying to do was not possible with latest firmware quote with my comments in brackets: "Hi Ian, in the last firmware we changed the detailed settings to simplified category settings. So the settings (meaning F5J, UNSELECTED, F3B etc.) contains all needed for the competition. However we are now adding also the detailed (meaning altitude Emergency motor on, Competition restart etc,) settings back for the new firmware to come." Lukáš Palkovič This doesn't change the full ability to change settings via a computer which I'll now take to the field everytime until the new firmware comes out.

    KAPPA 20

This is a fantastic small glider. It is easy to fly but needs careful camber control to achieve its best performance. This is my second Kappa (it replaced an earlier one which I wrote off!!) and has had very little airtime. Power on clime rate is very fast and it gets too small too quickly for my old eyes. Virtually unmarked, ready to fly except for a slim rx. ( If you use Jeti I can also supply a 9chan at an extra cost). The model is fitted with mks servos throughout, YGE esc, Turnigy 2826/10 outrunner, Vlad spinner,RFM prop. Also included 2 new Tattu 3s 650 lipos. and factory produced wing bags. Wing tips have been modified to reduce the wingspan to 2Mtr, see the attached pic. £475 Can take to RadioGlide. Please pm me if interested.
  22. Glad you have got it working.

    F5B Nationals at Radioglide

This Saturday sees the start of Radioglide. Weather looks good. Infact it is the best forecast we have for the Radioglide since we started flying at Buckminster. On Saturday the F5B event will be both the Radioglide and the BMFA National Championships. If you have not seen full spec F5B flying then this is your opportunity to see these spine tingling machines in action. Josef Mouris will going head to head with the other top UK flyers for the crown of National Champion. Josef recently competed in a Eurotour event in Germany and beat the current World Champion to 1st place. So the standard promises to be very high. If you are attending the weekend and not flying on the Saturday why not pop over and help time some duration slots and get involved in the action.. We hope to see you on the weekend. Regards Greg

    4th 2019 2m Hi Start 14 day Duration Challenge

Thanks Martyn - appreciate that. It's a fun little class with lots of scope for development. The Ferry 500 is very much the basic starting point (designed by Boffin of this parish) but a lot of fun for club competition. The plan and timer details are now up on our site: http://peterboroughmfc.org/Ferry500.html http://peterboroughmfc.org/Ferry500-Timer.html Yes, we've been chatting about whether we can (finally) get some F3-RES flying arranged... Jon
  25. Thx Stormflyer Hi Leo! Yes we did indeed. How could I forget your Shinto and other amazing birds in your quiver...I still cant get over how light your Shinto is and how slow/beautiful she can fly when you was scratching for lift last week and how well she cut's into wind...Dream of Dreams Thanks for advice and links. See you at Scrubs sometime soon I hope. Cheers Marc Yes and be careful when launching into gales or you might fold your wings on the way up....(I am still haunted by that memory/was like in slow motion) :D. Great advice as always Pete, thank you.
  26. Gentlemen, thank you for your help and advice. I picked up and new 16Gig (smallest they had)Micro SD card/card reader from Argos and formatted it(FAT32) for safe measures, copied over all the correct version files and she now works a treat!
