  1. OK guys I am happy to co-ordinate the Winter league as usual and as before, I would propose to run them the 3rd weekend in the month. I do however have a problem with Sundays as I have now been dragged in to manage one of my kids' football teams. Therefore, my proposal would be to move these to a Saturday. If this causes a lot of people issues, then if someone else wants to step forward to run them on a Sunday, I am happy to step aside and attend / help out when I can. So these are the proposed Saturday dates: 17th October 21th Nov 19th Dec 16th Jan 20st Feb 20st Mar Please post below if you plan to come or if Saturday's would cause you an issue. Joel
  2. COMPETITION CANCELLED. FORECAST TO BE TOO WINDY. BMFA F3K League 10 June 2017 Malvern. At the Malvern Soaring Association field in Upton on Severn. This is a great venue for gliding with plenty of space and apparently the weather is going to be brilliant! PM me or post here to enter with name, freq and BMFA number. Deadline for entries 1900 Thursday 8 June. I will make a call on the weather 1200 09 June and post here. BMFA membership required. £10 on the day. As always, first time competition pilots very welcome. Please arrive by 0930 latest for the first round to start at 1000. Directions to the field here. Some bonus directions as a few people have found it tricky previously: Google Maps satellite image view shows it very clearly. Exit the A4104 onto E(ast) Waterside. Drive to the end and turn right, heading back under the A4104 into the field. You'll end up driving along the Severn way pretty much. Please stick to driving along the track on the edge of the field. We'll park up about where the tent is on the Google maps image (shown as of 30/5/17). I will open the gate under the bridge from about 0800-0930 for competitors to drive onto the field, then lock it again. It can be opened again during the day if competitors need to drive in and out. Spectators are welcome, but unless they want to stay all day like competitors will need to park on the right along the slip road just off the main road. The parking here is obvious and used by locals who come to walk the footpath around the field. Our club hosts are sensitive about vehicle access to the field, and I will be too busy flying, timing and running a comp (or at least trying to) to be back and forward all day to the gate. Let me know if you have any questions. 3. You're invited to Kent Interclub Glider 2 Multilaunch competition to be held at the Invicta site at Sutton Valence, Sunday 4 June. Ian Nicholls will be back from holiday to act as CD on the day but I'm fronting up till then (and many thanks to Invicta for sorting the field and sound system). Open to all. £5 fee for fliers who are not members of a KI club. Entries, please, by 10pm Friday 2 June so a matrix can be set up. Please reply here or email me (jackson272894@yahoo.com) The Rules are BARCS Multilaunch. Electric launched gliders must have a motor stop function set at 175m and 30 seconds and the Time Keeper must, for electric launched gliders, record the F5J launch height on the score sheet in addition to the normal flight time and landing points. (Please note that this is for future Kent Interclub evaluation of rules. You are asked to set height limiters at 175m and will not be penalised if your actual launch heights are higher - though the CD might have a word about abnormal zooming). The Sutton Valence field location is as shown on the attached flying field directions and Map Link https://www.google.com/maps/d/u/0/viewer?hl=en&msa=0&z=15&ie=UTF8&mid=1aUAe8hQF_d0FtDs2w8fWwT3342A&ll=51.20294501242778%2C0.5932615000000396 We want to have a full day's flying so please check in by 09:30 latest and be ready for Pilots Briefing at 09:45 with the competition starting at 10:00 sharp. We hope to fly 6 rounds. Each flier's lowest score will be discarded as long as we manage a minimum of 4 rounds.
