  2. There's enough wind for the Crest on Sunday. Let's do it!!!!
  3. Thank you to all the pilots who have have already entered Radioglide 2024. Details of those who have entered so far will be posted shortly, either here or on the class forums. The number of entries for each class so far are: F5J 35 F3K 9 GPS 9 F5/3L 12 Entries close on Monday 20th May so there is still time to enter - full event details and on line entry is available at https://www.barcs.co.uk/radioglide/ After the 20th May entry will only be available at the discretion of the CD and the entry fee will increase to £22.50 per event per day. As flying schedules/matrices etc. have to be prepared ahead of the event, entry after 20th May can't be guaranteed so it would be much appreciated if everyone who wants to take part completes their entry before the closing date. Thanks Steve

Initially, we are stocking ESC’s however, it is possible to order other Tenshock products through SHRC/Tenshock distribution channel. https://www.tenshock.com/ All our manufactured rib sets & stock RC equipment products are shipped globally from the UK within a few days from order receipt. Wing tips were printed in low viscosity, foaming ASA and ultralight polypropylene. Both materials are very light and held temperatures up to around 100°C. PLA start to soften at 50-60°C already. Both materials tends to warp during printing, despite heated bed and adhesion glue, but that can be fixed. Alternatively it could be done with balsa, but the advantage of having them exactly the same is lost. Or simply print them in PLA or LWPLA.

I am open to near offers also of course.
  11. There seems to be no wind for Wales though
  12. I don't mind moving. Too many variables to get things right. If it's not the rain.... See what the others say
  13. I don't mind if it's Whitesheet or Wales... I just want to get my first comp in after such a long time away.
  14. What about moving the race to Wales? Maybe the reserve date would work for Whitesheet.

After the glue has set, the sheets are trimmed to planform. A 10mm X 15mm balsa sheet is glued with thin cyano in front of the ribs. It will be slowly sanded to shape. Yes, at beginning I use a rasp Seems straight. Please remember: - a leading edge small radius is better for hard aerobatics, but more prone to stall, especially at tip - a bigger radius is better for relaxing flight, which for such a plane I guess should be a first choice (less prone to tip stall) P.s.: at this point, the proud builder, beside checking how the complete plane looks like, does some wing lift test... Don't lie, you know what I mean.

    Darts anyone?

Hey Marc, it's a fantastic setup you have got there! The rubberized surround is a smart move to keep your walls intact. I am definitely interested in joining for a game of darts! It's been a minute since I have played, but I am down for some friendly competition. Let's get those darts flying!

    Sad to see

It's indeed unfortunate news. South Coast Sailplanes set a high standard in customer service and communication. Wishing everyone involved a fulfilling retirement ahead.
  21. Not good being a NE forecast. The slope flying Gods are just not being good to us!!
  22. How is the forecast looking?
  23. F3f would be a bit boring and lacking in challenge and interest without variability - it's an integral part of whatever do. The slope just needs to be able to work with the variability, which the ice cream slope can't when the wind is blanked on the left (Bruce lost sight of his model below the hill straight after we stopped - was very lucky to see it come out flying). The standard rules are absolutely fine (mostly) but assume the slope can work with 45 deg deviation.

Let proceed with the bottom sheet. This step requires care, because it will set the washout of the wing, which should be at zero degrees. It will set torsional rigidity too, which makes washout difficult to correct afterwards (but still possible). I did use white glue, so if the washout is slightly off it can be corrected heating the wing with a heat gun, after the glue has set. The glue will soften with heat and allows some bending. The trailing edge is kept in shape with two aluminium profiles, to have it nice straight. A 10mm piece of balsa is used at tip side to have the correct washout, with the 20mm profiles keeping the trailing edge aligned on the workbench.
  25. Interesting Mark, but analysis can be viewed many ways. F3f will always have an element of chance. Even with a very quick view it can be seen that the last round, flown at a 20degree max, gave possibly the most random times, lots of breaks and then stopped the comp. Conditions were still very flyable at that time. Would it simply be better to fly more rounds to even out the conditions. For many of the field perhaps a comp with more flying is a better than going home early. To attract fliers we need to give them a good day out.
