    I'll tell you what..... Even though I've have the time I've posted I'm on tenterhooks. I can't face having to fly that time again and more. Can't I come to an agreement? Ha.

    Proof not every flying session is easy. Light winds, grey sky. 95% sink, the lift was weak and like spiders legs. The air was turbulent and like soup. Rubbish visibility, maxing at 200 meters. Some 30 odd flights and nothing over 10 minutes. Plenty of land outs and one in the hedge. Would love to know how the red kites can climb in the narrow lift by doing big circles.

    No, I gave up as only one of my 65A ESCs would ever give telemetry. I've also moved to ELRS on nearly all my models, and have a different main LiPo voltage telemetry setup now.

    Hi Did you ever manage yo resolve the frsky telemetry issue? The receiver seems to see the esc as the telemetry dots are flashing and says telemetry lost when disconnected from the receiver. But the values remain at zero?

  10. Great to see you're up and about again, but sadly this clashes with Tonbridge, soooo much closer. Hoping you either are, or will be 100% recovered.
  11. Midland/Malvern Soaring Association F5j comp Sun 9th June Sunday 9th June 2024: 10.00am start. (All day event) Entry fee £5, height limiter available if needed. The Motor restart facility is recommended to be set as ON! as landing outside the flying area could mean landing in one of the new Sand/Gravel quarries that have now been started taking up about 25% of the field. However remember if you use the motor restart your flight is void! Camping/Campervans allowed on field. For those who wish to camp at Fish Meadow contact the Farmer direct, his details are Oliver Surman mobile 07788 441612 A post code of WR8 0PB will put you on the access road to the tunnel to the field do not turn left into East Waterside carry on past and bear right following the path to the tunnel. Please drive around the perimeter of the field on the track to the right after exiting the tunnel. ALTERNATIVELY use the entrance opposite the Marina on the main road please close the gates after entry. If its your first try at F5j, a height limiter is available to loan.     FxRES May 2024 2m F3L/F5L Monthly Duration Challenge

    Purito-E : F5L : 17th May 2024 : 1hr 1m 32secs Note:- Does not better my previous time. Harden Moor - Time 15:00 - not much mph rising to about 5mph, ENE - temperature: I put the sun cream on but didn't need it by the end. I could do no wrong. It was a bit neck achingly boring. I had thought the spoilers were not doing very much whilst in a thermal but after checking previous graphs and observing the model they do work in a thermal. Point 1200s and 1800s are the spoilers deployed with a little nose down only occasionally. Now when I say the flight was boring there was one bit that did kinda get my heart racing. Can you see where on the graph? Clouds are normally high. Really high. Nothing to worry about. Well perhaps the white little fluffy ones. What you see at 2700s is cloud base of a big black cloud. That's me in amazement when the model disappeared in cloud reducing the height of the model in a not so overly controlled manner. Someone once said to me that if you are not quite sure of the orientation of your model pull up. Whilst it loops or stalls you can get a grip of yourself and bring the model under control. It worked. The black clouds had rolled in and the temperature had a chill about it. Richard
  14. Thanks for making the call Graeme. We next have the reserve date on 9th June. As both wales and white sheet league comps are cancelled, this becomes eligible for either venue. Having said that, Whitesheet will be the preferred slope as we have already had 2 days in Wales + 3 days for the Welsh Open to come in this year's league.
  15. Well in the past the local club supply the gear, whitesheet has timing equipment and I have a set of a frames as we know. Only place there nothing in place is wales, we normally sort it some how (this did go wrong last year) Yorkshire and midland have gear as does Scotland. ESSA has a set and I think Joel has the Welsh. weather call is best left to locals as you have done I may visit wales Sunday, long way for me JP

Ok, so what do we need to do to move to Wales…? contact AJ for permission? the Crest is a huge slope with enough space for the locals and us, it seems crazy to just cancel without exploring all avenues. Always worth the question Graeme, difficult decision this and has been discussed lots of time in the passed. sadly not clear answer jP
  17. Dear All, I’m totally confused as to who’s supplying the gear for the comps this year, or making weather calls. So as a Whitesheet local I’m calling it off due to the NE direction. This direction is ok for sport flying but not F3F. maybe see some of you in Wales Sunday for some wrecker action. G

  19. You’re correct it’s not on the Crest per se, however the Crest does fly NE as well as the Wrecker. Anyway, just thought I’d get my 10 pence worth in. I’ll get off my soapbox now and wait for the weather call. G
  20. the forecast isnt the crest .so what do you do when all the comps are at the bwlch because it covers all directions . where do you stop

    It's cutting time. Ailerons first! Because it's easier to do the second cut on the wing rather on the aileron. Flexible rulers are better suited for this task. Start cutting just the sheets, top and bottom and then cutting the ribs from top. Looking at the picture should be clear the reason Sheetings are glued with thin cyano and trimmed to shape. The aileron has to be closed at tip side. We don't want a plane that will whistle at each turn, do we? And of course, before going bed...
